I don’t know if you remember your middle school years, or if you blocked a bunch of it out because you were pants in the cafeteria at breakfast and never lived it down. But middle school is one of the toughest times in the first 18 years of a child’s life. From day one when you have 7 teachers and a locker for the first time and experience the mass amounts of cliques. All the way to the last day where you feel good because you brutally climbed your way up the popularity ladder just to have it taken away next year. Or maybe you didn’t make it to the top of the cool chain… maybe you barely survived, taking every insult to heart and allowing the peers to develop who you are.
I remember the good and the bad of middle school. I also remember the leaders in the youth group I went to. How they normalized what I was feeling and allowed me to be me with no judgment or criticism. Reaching out to me in the most important years of my developmental life to make sure I have a foundation in Christ.
Starting January 5th, during second service, we will be having middle school youth group every week! If your teen is in middle school, I encourage you to start coming 2nd services starting in January so they can be apart of a this amazing experience!
We will also be having a kick off White Elephant Christmas Party on Saturday, December 21st at the CTK Office downtown Nampa from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A great way to bring comfort to a first timer coming to a new group is to bring friends to break the ice a little.
I hope you are as excited as we are about starting this up. Have a great Christmas season and remember to love on your teens!
