About Us

About Us.

Together as one. For everyone.

Network Roots.

Christ the King Nampa is an independent, Bible-focused and Jesus-centric church family. We started as part of a network of churches based in the Pacific Northwest. Administratively and fiscally we were, for all intents and purposes, one church meeting in many locations. Each campus was free to build and lead their church body in the way that best reflected and connected to their local community. Consequently, every campus had a different look and feel without compromising the relationships and missional heart that made us who we were. Eventually, the financial and administrative complexities of managing 14 campuses spread from Whidbey Island, Wa. to Port Orange, Fla. made it difficult to maintain the grassroots and entrepreneurial spirit of the network. Three years ago, the final movement of the movement, so to speak, was to establish each individual campus as an independent and self-sustaining church community. In Nampa, we kept the name and doubled down on the transparent relationships and dedication to the overarching narrative of the Bible that has characterized our church community from the beginning.

The Main Thing.

One key element in the life of our church is our commitment to keeping the main thing the main thing. There are a few non-negotiables we've agreed on in terms of how we understand God as the biblical scriptures reveal him--main things. The God of the Bible is the unique Creator God who made something from nothing and who curates justice and stands in judgment of all evil. Jesus is everything he said he was. We are invited into a restored and reconciled life with God, through Jesus, in this life now and later in a restored and reconciled Heaven-and-Earth for eternity. Beyond the main thing, there are volumes of ideas and thoughts, doctrines and directives for us to contemplate, discuss, struggle with and live into. We try to focus on the main thing and leave space to contend with the rest earnestly and lovingly, together. For more specifics on what we consider main things check out our statement of faith below.

Leadership.

Christ the King is a pastor and elder led church community. Our pastor is tasked with the bottom line spiritual care and direction of the church. This largely involves prayer, study, teaching and building relationships with people in the church body. Currently, our pastor is bi-vocational (working part time as a hospice chaplain) which provides him with a vital connection to the community and reduces the financial cost of his salary. The elders are a group of men and women who are responsible for the spiritual direction and administration of the church. They are appointed from within the group in consensus with the church at large and serve a three year term. We also have a part time paid administrator who manages the various tasks and ongoing administrative needs of the church.

Statement of Faith.

God and the Bible are trustworthy.

God has gone to great lengths to reveal himself to us in the overarching narrative of the scriptures. We believe the Bible is the foundation of God’s revelation of his nature, character, power and plan to reconcile all people to him. The scriptures serve as the authoritative lens through which we see the world around us and discern the movement of the Spirit in our lives.

Context matters.

We make every effort to interpret the Bible in its original context and according to its diverse spectrum of literary genres, perspectives and authors--all inspired by God himself.

God is for us.

We find in the narrative of the Bible that Jesus’ death and resurrection are the result of God’s love for us and his desire to redeem us from our brokenness into eternal relationship with him. Jesus offers us forgiveness for our sin and purpose for our lives as well as the promise to leverage love from every evil and hurt.

Jesus is Savior and King.

In light of our belief in the trustworthiness of the Bible, we believe Jesus is the only way we are able to be reconciled to and live in relationship with God. Jesus embodied God’s true love, grace and self-sacrifice which is the key to our redemption from sin and death. Jesus’ salvation is eternal--extending beyond this life into an eventual new creation.

Judgment is coming.

Jesus submitted himself to the rules of our broken world through his birth, life and death. In his resurrection, he secured the right to judge sin and offer new life. Jesus promised he will return to pass final judgment against evil and rule in favor of the oppressed and those who submit themselves to him. Jesus’ judgment is final and irrevocable.

The church is the body of Christ.

We believe that the global and local community of Christ-followers is the tangible manifestation of God’s grace and love for all people. We believe that a relationship with God begins as a personal decision that grows and matures in the context of church community. God’s Spirit moves, speaks and transforms us through church community.
